Downtown Early Childhood Association

We are an association of about 40 educational institutions focusing on children ages 2 through 5 in Lower Manhattan (and one in Hoboken and one on 43rd Street). Our members include traditional nursery schools, day care centers, ongoing schools with nursery programs, and specialty programs in art, music or tumbling.

We have been in existence for approximately twenty years. School directors meet to exchange information about topics of mutual interest to educators of young children. We also provide professional workshops for our members.

The number of young children living in Lower Manhattan has increased substantially in recent years. The number of early childhood programs has also increased. Here, in one place, is a list of neighborhood schools, with direct links to the schools' individual Web sites. We hope you find it helpful.
